Where it all started. Alpine singletrack, creek crossings, and the most iconic course on The Kids Adventure Race calendar.

Kids navigate singletrack and switchbacks on two wheels. Helmets and gloves required. Skills clinic covers riding fundamentals, braking, and trail confidence.

Trekking, hiking, and obstacle navigation across the natural landscape. No shortcuts — just the terrain and your teammate.

Every Kids Adventure Race course includes a water element — creek crossings, swim sections, or paddle challenges.

What to Bring
Every athlete must arrive at the start line with the full required gear list. Being prepared is part of adventure racing, and each athlete is responsible for themselves and their teammate on course.
Gear checks take place before the race. Teams missing required gear will not be allowed to start until their kit is complete. No exceptions — safety comes first.
Harnesses and personal flotation devices (PFDs) are provided at the race venue. Do not bring your own unless we ask for it.
Every course. Every location. Every year.
Trained race staff and volunteers on-course at every obstacle and transition
Required safety gear verified at the start line — no gear, no race
Age-appropriate courses designed and tested by adventure racing professionals
Vail is the original. The Kids Adventure Race has been racing in the Vail Valley since the beginning, and for good reason — the terrain is world-class, the community gets it, and the course that winds through alpine meadows and creek crossings is unlike anything else in the series.
Four days in 2026: balance bike race for the littlest athletes Thursday, the main race across three age-group days Friday through Sunday, and the Family Mud Run for anyone who wants to get dirty without a bib number. Vail fills up earlier than any other location on the calendar every year. If you're coming, register now — we mean it.
The course is real. The challenge is real. And that's why the finish line means so much.
